New Tacoma Meeting, December 14, 2005

Suggested Visions 

The following suggestions and recommended visions were expressed:

•  Look at ways of further engaging the Community.

•  Create a team of Board members to recruit other citizens and organizations to become involved in the New Tacoma Neighborhood Council.

•  Support and collaborate with other organizations and agencies to co-sponsor neighborhood events and activities. This will lend additional creditability to the New Tacoma Neighborhood Council, and provide greater public exposure.

•  Utilize the New Tacoma Neighborhood Council's “logo” on all printed and other material and information to enhance public exposure.

•  Develop criteria on what and who the New Tacoma Neighborhood Council will offer support financially.

•  When tasks are identified, a committee and/or group(s) from the organization should move forward on implementing and completing the task.

•  Illegal dumping on streets and in alleys, litter, and general clean-up of the neighborhood was mentioned as a priority.

•  New Tacoma Neighborhood Council should act and a resource and clearinghouse for other groups and agencies in the neighborhood. It should consider hosting quarterly meetings with other groups.

•  Explore a variety of different ways of marketing itself to the public.

•  Develop a gateway entry to the neighborhood and city.

•  Create community forums.

•  Enhance broader communication with its residents through internet/web communication, direct mail, and other avenues.

•  Develop and conduct a survey/questionnaire to assess the needs and interest of residents, business, etc. in the neighborhood.

•  Look at approach the vision for the organization as a Business Plan.
